Located at the junction of Honggutan New District, Xinjian District and Economic & Technological Development Zone in Nanchang, Changjiu Expressway forms a vital segment of Nanchang Urban Ring Road and serves as the major north-south municipal traffic artery in western urban area. The project was carried out in two phases. Phase I stretches 4.89 km from Changle Interchange to Huangjiahu Interchange. Phase II consists of northern and southern sections with total length of 8.04 km. The designed speed of main line reaches 80 km/h. The whole line includes large multi-level interchanges such as Huangjiahu Interchange, Yiyuan Road Interchange, Huizhan Road Interchange and Changhang Avenue Hub Interchange. The road was widened from dual 4-lane to dual 6-lane viaduct expressway, covering pavement works, interchange bridges, drainage pipeline, road lighting, traffic safety facilities and complete municipal supporting works.

The construction adopted the scheme of “half-road construction while half-road open to traffic”. Existing traffic remained in operation during the whole construction period, bringing complicated traffic management requirements. Materials needed accurate phased and zoned delivery. After full opening, the project connects Honggutan, Xinjian and Economic Zone efficiently, optimizes western Nanchang road network, relieves commuter and freight traffic pressure, and supports urban industrial development along Ganjiang West Bank and northern Nanchang.

Zhongchun Group undertook centralized procurement and supply of municipal infrastructure materials for the whole route, supplying asphalt mixture, bridge anti-collision guardrails, viaduct street lighting, bridge bearings, precast box girder components, road marking materials, drainage pipes, subgrade stabilization materials, traffic signboards and other products. We formulated staggered delivery plans adapting to continuous urban traffic and scattered construction sites, ensuring simultaneous construction of main viaduct and multi-layer interchanges.
